What A Workshop Looks Like…

1- Intro

You don’t have to be good at art to do art…

We do it because it

  • Raises cognitive and sensorimotor function
  • Cultivates emotional resilience
  • Promotes insight

And in a group it…

  • Improves social skills
  • Reduces and resolves conflicts
  • Offers new perspectives

2-Activity

We will do a short activity, a group initiative or writing exercise, that will put participants into the mindset of the chosen topic.

This allows participants to speak about a direct experience versus abstract thoughts.

3- Art Making

Participants will be given a prompt to guide them through the art making experience.

Participants will be taught how to use materials. All supplies provided and may include paint, markers, pencils, oil pastels, paper, canvas, stones or collage materials

4- Reflect

On process: “Wow I was nervous about making art. But I did pretty good and I enjoyed the process!”

On product: ” The person in the image looks unbalanced and more focused on what’s behind them then what is ahead….”

On takeaways: ” I didn’t realize how making art could help me organize my ideas and calm my mind. I want to do this more often.”
